48x48, mixed media on plywood
in my time as an interior designer, i collected lots of material samples that i was inspired by — wallpapers, dichromatic film, textiles, you name it. Anything that was shiny or had a cool texture or pattern i tucked away for when inspiration hit.
and when it hit, this was the final product! a crazy mixed media collage that has layers and layers of acrylic paint, spray paint, wallcovering, mirrored film, and more paint.
i had so much fun experimenting with paint on the various textures and backgrounds, and enjoyed playing with layers of transparency and reflection. The end product is this funky carnival-house mirror type abstract explosion.
i love that this piece transforms and becomes completely different depending on which angle you look at it from, or where its setting is. it is always reflecting its current reality; constantly changing, just like us.
